The CRC is seeking undergraduate Peer Career Advisors (PCAs) who will share responsibility with the professional staff for assisting students with career exploration as well as supporting, coordinating and implementing workshops and programs for the 2010-2011 academic year. PCAs will receive thorough training in this role and continue to receive support and training from the staff throughout the year. The position is part-time and requires approximately 10 hours a week and may occasionally include both weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities include advising students on resume and cover letter writing and editing as well as providing job and internship resources during Drop In sessions for at least four hours once a week.  Other duties include presenting programming in the residential halls and publicizing CRC events in the on-campus community.  PCAs also support the recruiting and counseling staff during career fair days and information sessions and when necessary, help the front desk staff with receiving students, making appointments and answering phones.

Qualifications include working well with others, both individually and in a team, as well as being able to act independently.  Critical to the position is the ability to follow through with commitments, being self-motivated, and maintaining confidentiality.  Applicants must demonstrate strong writing and editing skills as well as have solid presentation skills.

You will be required to come back to campus the last week of August to participate in a week long training orientation.

  • You CANNOT be a Dean’s Orientation Intern, Orientation Leader, Senior Interviewer, or a Res Life staff member for Fall ’10.
  • The position runs from May 17, 2010 to September 5, 2010.

WesDEF Info Session 4/6

Unite!  We have heard the word diversity being used and perhaps misused many times on this campus.  We see the important implications diversity has in our lives at home or at Wesleyan everyday.  Now we ask you to have your voice heard in the way diversity is talked about on campus!

WesDEF is a student group that has existed for several years now, talking with other students about diversity and hosting campus events. We are looking to revamp things, so in the spirit of a rejuvenating Springtime we invite you to become an integral part of WesDEF!

Info Session: Tuesday, April 6th 8PM in Usdan 136

As you begin to plan your fall course selection, NOW is the time to think about summer classes with Wesleyan’s Summer Session.

All courses are available at roughly half the usual tuition rate and many offer a low student/faculty ratio. Unlike other summer programs, you can apply the graded classes to your GPA (your dean can best advise you about taking courses pass/fail or for credit).

The session is June 7 – July 9, and offers 28 courses across the curriculum, including:

– Popular intro and gateway courses
– New upper-level courses
– Psychology Institute
– Theater Institute
– Music and Computer Programming Institute

There is also a special Wesleyan Summer Session Wesmaps link in your EPortfolio. Current enrollments are not yet reflected in the “Seats Available” number in each course description. The registration form is available on the Summer Session website and in your EPortfolio. Please download the form, complete it, including all necessary approval signatures, and submit the form with the $500 deposit to the Summer Session office at 284 High Street.
