Google Apps for Education
Dec. 2, 2008 by dphillips
The WSA-ITS Committee is pleased to announce that the transition to Google Apps for Education has been approved and will go online for the start of the spring semester. Google Apps will give students many new options in their digital lifestyle, including expanded e-mail capacity, calendaring, and digital collaboration.
Wes Google Apps email will not affect your email address. Your address will continue to be user@wesleyan.edu. Your Wes Google account will not have ads and will be accessible via ePortfolio and a Wesleyan Google Apps login page.
Students will have the opportunity to opt-out of Google Apps. By opting out, students will remain on the locally hosted Wesleyan e-mail and will continue to have a 100 MB limit on their e-mail account. Google has a much larger limit on their email accounts (7GB’s and growing). The option to opt-out will appear in your Student Portfolio in the coming days.
Once you have been moved to Google Apps for Education, you will not be able to return to Wesleyan hosted e-mail. If you choose to opt-out now, there will still be opportunities to opt-in in the future.
More information to follow soon.

This is sure a great decision to go for Google Apps. We regularly cover the educational institutes going for Google Apps on our blog where we have written a brief about your post:
